The great scholar Nagarjuna is revered as an unsurpassed master by all Buddhist schools. His teachings provide the foundation for the Madhyamika School, which propounds the ‘Middle Way’ philosophy, accepted as the highest view within the sutrayana.

He was also the revealer of the Prajnaparamita Sutras, the core teaching of the second turning of the wheel of the Dharma. The most famous treatise of his six texts of reasoning is The Fundamental Wisdom of the Middle Way (Mulamadhyamakakarika), probably the single most analyzed, commented upon and discussed philosophical treatise in Buddhism’s history.

The fire-brand circle of samsara ~ Nagarjuna

If we grasp at the (five) aggregates, we are grasping at self.
If we grasp at self, from that (arises) karma, and from (karma arises) birth.
Through these three, without a beginning, middle, or end,
Revolves the fire-brand circle of samsara
By depending on each other as the cause.
